My team looked at me, talked to me for a few minutes, and then basically told me to fuck off back home and come back when I’m better. I didn’t even get a chance to turn on my computer before the boss put his foot down and told me to go home.
I felt better compared to the last few days, but once I got in my car to go back home I realized I still feel fucked up. For a few moments, I was that dick who brought plague into the office. I really don’t like it when people come into the office sick.
Anyways, I can’t even sleep now since I’m washing my sheets because everything is damp from my night sweats (this was probably a sign that I wasn’t quite ready to go back yet).
I sincerely hope Oppo’s day goes well without any health issues. I could bitch more but honestly I’m at home instead of work, so things could be worse, I guess.

My boss tried to get me to work with pneumonia. I work mainly outside. When he called and I answered through a breathing treatment, he got the idea that it wasn’t happening.

I know it’s a hot topic in the US, but paid sick leave needs to be a regular thing. Employers may bitch about people taking advantage of it, but that’s for employers to deal with on a case-by-case basis (plus, if you work for a massive corporation like I do, don’t even get me started on who’s taking advantage of whom). If I show up to work every day without fault but suddenly need to take a week off because of the flu, there should be no further questions and I should be allowed to recover without fear of retribution from my employer.
Then again, maybe your boss didn’t realize the seriousness of your illness - pneumonia to some may just be a shitty cough, but in reality it can be much worse.

Smart office. I had a coworker come in while she was sick and now my boss and myself are sick as hell.

Yeah, all workplaces need to implement policies where if someone is clearly ill they should be sent home right away. I honestly don’t see the point of endangering a whole office when you’re going to get severely reduced productivity from the ill employee and potentially take a much larger hit when the rest of your employees are plagued.
Quarantine the sick to their homes, re-assess when they come back in and/or check in on them.
Businesses can be incredibly myopic in this regard.

Had a coworker come in after being out for a few days with the flu, but still looked like crap. The boss told him to go home. Once he left, I went to town on his area with the Lysol.

I’m an asthmatic and he knows that, so pneumonia means a lot more than a simple cough. I’m salary though, so I still get paid.
